Calvin Russell clears the air on recruitment amid growing speculation

Calvin Russell, one of the most highly rated wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class, has shut down rumors about his college decision. As fans and insiders anticipated a commitment on Saturday night, the Miami native took to social media to set the record straight:

“I HAVEN’T COMMITTED TO NO ONE,” Russell posted, halting speculation and confirming that his decision is still up in the air.

No commitment yet: Syracuse, Michigan, Oregon, and FSU still in play

Russell is still considering four schools—Syracuse, Michigan, Oregon, and Florida State. Each program remains in contention as the wideout continues to weigh his options.

Florida State, previously seen as a front-runner, had hosted Russell on multiple visits and offered him a scholarship back in June 2023. Despite rumors suggesting FSU may have fallen behind, they are still very much in the mix.

Russell’s breakout season: Miami star put up big numbers

Russell helped lead Miami Northwestern to a 12–2 record and a Florida Class 3A State Championship under head coach Teddy Bridgewater.

He ended his junior year with:

  • 39 receptions
  • 704 receiving yards
  • 13 receiving touchdowns
  • 2 rushing touchdowns on just 3 carries

His combination of speed, size, and playmaking ability has made him one of the most sought-after receivers in the country.
