FanDuel partners with MLS club for Missouri sports betting.

After losing out on an unfettered license, FanDuel quickly announced their Missouri sports betting partner.

St. Louis City SC, a Major League Soccer team, and the Flutter-owned sportsbook announced a market access agreement Friday afternoon.

“We are excited to collaborate with St. Louis CITY SC to bring our industry-leading product to the Show Me State, as Missouri is home to some of the nation’s most ardent sports fans,” stated Mike Raffensperger, president of sports at FanDuel. “As we bring America’s #1 Sportsbook to fans throughout Missouri, we look forward to supporting the team and interacting with the community.”

Three people applied for two untethered Missouri sports betting licenses, including FanDuel. Circa and DraftKings were granted licenses after Circa CEO Derek Stevens persuaded the Missouri Gaming Commission during his presentation.

FanDuel will not be partnering with Boyd this time.

If FanDuel’s market access arrangement had remained the same, they might have teamed with one of Boyd’s two casinos in Missouri. The deal that allowed FanDuel to grow throughout the US was recently modified by the two parties.

For $1.755 billion, Flutter repurchased the 5% share in FanDuel that Boyd had acquired in 2018 as part of the market-access deal. Additionally, they revised their agreement to pay set fees in five states—excluding Missouri.

Over the second half of this year, Flutter will save $35 million thanks to the revised conditions. In the third quarter, Boyd’s 5% ownership should be sold.

The Missouri sports betting database is already available on FanDuel.

Due to their daily fantasy sports databases, DraftKings and FanDuel usually have an advantage in any new state. In Missouri, a large number of citizens already have betting accounts.

Five of Missouri’s eight neighbouring states are served by FanDuel. This includes Kansas and Illinois, two states that Missouri shares significant cities with.

According to FanDuel executives, 110,000 Missourians have already placed bets with the company in other states. That represents 2.3% of the state’s population aged 21 and up.
