Sports betting became allowed in Iowa in 2019, and it has since grown in popularity in casinos as well as online platforms such as FanDuel and DraftKings.
While Iowa’s 19 casinos have witnessed revenue declines in recent years, money from sports betting has continued to come into the casinos and internet companies operating in the state.
Iowa casinos’ sports betting revenue has climbed by 25% during 2024, from $218.48 million to $274.45 million in 2025, according to data from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. From 2024 to 2025, the state’s revenue from online sports wagering increased by approximately 27.5%.

In 2025, the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque earned the most amount of money from sports betting ($83.72 million), while the DraftKings subsidiary earned over $100 million.
