Anisimova is now the last American woman left in the draw. Who is Amanda Anisimova?
Anisimova was born in Freehold, New Jersey, and raised in Florida. Her parents moved from Russia to the U.S. in 1998 before she was born. Though she speaks Russian, she has never visited the country and has always represented the U.S. in tennis.
She was homeschooled by her mother, Olga, and trained at a tennis club started by the family. Her sister, Maria Egee, once played college tennis at the University of Pennsylvania.

Her rise hasn’t come easy. Amanda lost her father and coach, Konstantin, to a heart attack in 2019. She was just 17 at the time and later pulled out of the U.S. Open. The loss deeply affected her tennis and motivation. Amanda’s father, Konstantin Anisimov, coached her through much of her early tennis development. He played a major role in her rise as a young prodigy. Tragically, Konstantin passed away from a heart attack in 2019. Amanda was just 17 at the time.
But under new coach Hendrik Vleeshouwers, a Dutchman who joined her team in 2023, Anisimova has rebuilt her game. She’s now one match away from becoming a Wimbledon champion.
