Home | News & Updates | Retired Rafael Nadal is out of tennis and Wimbledon, but is still winning — in Golf

Retired tennis legend Rafael Nadal hit a hole-in-one on the golf course, sharing the rare feat on social media to fans’ delight. The 22-time Grand Slam winner, now an avid golfer, joked about challenging Federer, Djokovic, and Murray on the greens. Meanwhile, Wimbledon continues without him, with Djokovic and Alcaraz eyeing another potential final showdown.

Rafael Nadal, 22-time Grand Slam champion, added another rare feat to his legendary sports career Thursday — sinking a hole-in-one on the golf course. The tennis icon shared the achievement on social media, just as the Wimbledon semifinals heat up without him for a second straight year.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal aces golf

Rafael Nadal, who retired from professional tennis last year, proved his sporting class hasn’t faded. On Thursday, he posted a picture on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) of himself smiling beside the hole where he hit a hole-in-one, proudly holding the golf ball that made it happen. Clad in pink shorts and a grey shirt and cap, Nadal looked every bit the athlete, even off the court.

“A hole-in-one, doesn’t happen every day!” Nadal wrote with a smiley face and golf flag emoji. His post quickly drew over 50,000 likes, with fans cheering him on — and some wishing he was still competing at Wimbledon.

Wimbledon rolls on, Nadal watches on

Though Nadal no longer features at SW19, his presence is still felt. The two-time Wimbledon champ (2008, 2010) keeps close tabs on the tournament. This year’s draw is narrowing to a thrilling finish, with Novak Djokovic set to face Jannik Sinner in the semifinal on Friday.

If Carlos Alcaraz overcomes Taylor Fritz in his semifinal, fans could get a blockbuster final: Djokovic vs Alcaraz, for the third straight year at Wimbledon.

Could the Big Four clash again — on the golf course?

Nadal recentty joked about possibly facing his old tennis rivals — Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray — not on clay or grass, but on fairways. Whether the ‘Big Four’ trade rackets for drivers anytime soon remains to be seen, but Nadal clearly hasn’t lost his competitive edge.

What it means for sports bettors

While Nadal’s golf game isn’t on the betting boards just yet, the Wimbledon semis are. Djokovic remains the favorite, but Alcaraz is closing in. With Nadal no longer a wildcard in Grand Slam draws, all eyes are on the next generation — and bettors are watching closely.

Nadal may be retired from tennis, but he’s still delivering highlight moments. The court has changed — from baseline to back nine — but Rafa’s aim is just as sharp.
