The Athletics defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3 on Sunday thanks to two-run home runs from Tyler Soderstrom, Nick Kurtz, and Austin Wynns.

In the victory, Jeffrey Springs (8-6) threw 6 2/3 innings of three-run ball. Mason Miller made his 19th save while handling the ninth.

For the third time in four games, the A’s prevailed. In their first season in Sacramento, they are 41-57 at the All-Star break.

With four hits and three errors, Toronto, who lead the AL East, was led by home runs from Davis Schneider and Addison Barger. After 17 games, the Blue Jays (55-41) are now 13-4.

In the second, the A’s took the lead. Following a leadoff single by Gio Urshela, Wynns drove home his sixth home run with one out to left off José Berríos.

Kurtz scored on Soderstrom’s 18th home run, a 410-foot shot to centre on a 1-2 sinker, then hit a leadoff double in the third. During his first two years in the majors, Soderstrom hit 12 home runs.

In the fifth inning, Schneider struck a solo drive to give the Blue Jays a response. However, after All-Star Jacob Wilson reached on a throwing error on reliever Tommy Nance, Kurtz went deep in the bottom half.

At the break, Wilson and Kurtz are among the front-runners for AL Rookie of the Year. Kurtz is batting, and Wilson is hitting. 332 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs. 257 with 44 RBIs and 17 home runs.

In three innings, Berríos (5-4) gave up five hits and four runs. His last four outings were 3-0 with a 2.52 ERA.

In the seventh, Barger hit his 13th home run, chasing Springs with a two-run blast.

In the ninth, Toronto’s Bo Bichette singled with one out. However, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. recovered to make a double play that ended the game.
