Teams turn their attention to October now that the All-Star Game is over. From elite contenders like the Tigers to rebuilding teams like the Marlins, our 2025 MLB power rankings examine each team’s performance, trends, and postseason prospects.
With the dust settled on the Midsummer Classic, each of the 30 clubs in the Major League Baseball takes a new chance in rebuilding, rejuvenating, and refocusing towards the road toward October. Others sprinted into the open gap with fervor, some tripped and still more are gripping the neutral genre. Here is our updated post All Star game and ranking structure MLB power rankings on the basis of the first half runs, the underlying trends, and second half prospects in baseball.
Top Contenders (1–10)
- Detroit Tigers
The most balanced team in baseball, perhaps, the Tigers are going into the break with very good pitching headed by Tarik Skubal and a hot lineup. Detroit makes it appear as a real title hazard. - Chicago Cubs
The first half went well in every way possible for the Cubs, with breakout season by Pete Crow-Armstrong to the elite performance of the bullpen. They will be a lock in the postseason so long as they remain healthy. - Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers feature two-way genius Shohei Ohtani and are still an elite team despite the injuries. October lasts in LA until it is disproved. - Houston Astros
The Astros could not be knocked out by injuries. Having gotten Yordan Alvarez back and the rotation settling in, Houston is in the position to make another deep playoff run. - Philadelphia Phillies
Having Zack Wheeler and Cristopher Sánchez as the headliners of the rotation round, Philly shows that it can be listed among the cream of the NL crop. - Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays were controlled by a great rotation, that is led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and dominated the first half. This might worry a slow July; or it might mean a rest before another effort. - Milwaukee Brewers
A sizzling conclusion of the first half, in which the Brewers had won seven in a row, pushed them into the top 10. They have been spearheaded by Freddy Peralta and William Contreras. - New York Mets
Between the grand slams of Brandon Nimmo, an emerging rotation, the Mets have settled enough to be heard during the short term second half. - Boston Red Sox
Boston rode in on a July upsurge to get into wild-card position. Assuming their crime is working, they may turn out to be the dark horse of 2011. - Texas Rangers
Jacob deGrom returning to Texas has not been met with no uncertainties, but the reactions are being electrified. They possess experienced and firepower to be hot when they are supposed to be.

Middle of the Pack (11–20)
- Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have had a midseason comeback assisted by Cal Raleigh. They are sneaking around in the AL West with the ability to launch a good playoff push in case their offense wakes up. - St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have got going after a slow start. They are led by veteran leadership and have dependable and steady pitching to put them in a position to make the wild-card race. - Chicago white socks
It has been a rollercoaster year so far of the South Siders but there are young prospects such as Shane Smith who is giving them hope of a bright future. - Atlanta Braves
Mid-season injuries have held up Atlanta domination. Nevertheless, when Ronald Acuuna Jr. and Matt Olson are healthy, this team cannot even be disregarded. - Minnesota Twins
Twins were kept in place in the Central with the help of Joe Ryan and his teammate Byron Buxton. They have a good chance to improve rapidly with less strikeouts and more power. - The New York Yankees
The season of the Yankees could be described as streaky only to start with. An effective bullpen usually does it right by counterbalancing a powerful list of pitchers. They will still be dangerous, even once stabilized. - Colorado Rockies
That is so, the Rockies! They have been one of the most shocking teams of 2025, showing a good first half with young talent coming out. - San Diego Padres
San Diego has failed to click even where giants are involved. They are part of the game, they just require an improvement on their turnover. - San Franciso Giants
The best the Giants have been able to do is hover around the .500 mark, and they have been playing in a tight NL West. The youthfulness and experience of them makes them interesting. - Arizona Diamondbacks
An excellent beginning was followed by difficult moments, however, the bat of Ketel Marte and a consistent bullpen present Florida with playoff-life possibilities.

The Rebuilders & Wild Cards (21–30)
- Angels of LA
It was painful to lose Shohei, but some young players are taking over. It is a development year, however, without showing no glimmer of future potential. - Washington Nationals
The rebuild of the Nationals is at a right mark. Their young arms flash brilliance and the offense has been sporadic. - Kansas Cities Royals
Infinitesimal progress by the Royals. Their farm system has been churning out talent and they have demonstrated a shameful strength in the lineup. - Pittsburgh Pirates
Paul Skenes has been a phenomenon. Having him at the top of the rotation, the future is bright of Pittsburgh even though 2025 may not be their year. - Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians have not risen to the expectations. A combination of both injuries and backtracking has left them seeking solutions going into August. - Tampa Bay Rays
A team that is the paradigm of an overperforming team, the Rays this year have played mundane. Nevertheless, late surge is never an impossible possibility with an analytical advantage they have. - Baltimore Orioles
The holes in the roster and inconsistency were revealed during a difficult first half. Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson remain solid building blocks – but the rest of the circuit has not. - Cincinnati Reds
Nick Kurtz and Elly De La Cruz offer pop, unfortunately the pitching problems with the Reds have brought them down. There will be action at the deadline. - Oakland Athletics
The A is in some very long rebuilding mode, yet Jacob Wilson and other prospects seem to have brought some optimism to the fans. - Miami Marlins
Nothing much has conceded in favor of Miami this year. Marlins are trying to find themselves and stability as they begin to focus on 2026.
Final Thoughts
The 2025 MLB season is entering its final act, and nothing is set in stone. The Tigers and Cubs are riding high, while the Dodgers, Astros, and Phillies stalk from the shadows. But beyond the top 10, every team — even those rebuilding — has reason to keep fighting. Whether it’s postseason dreams, player development, or franchise milestones, the second half is where contenders sharpen, surprises emerge, and legends are born.
Baseball’s back—and the race is just getting started.
